The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) Releases Study on Economic Impact of Comprehensive Immigration Reform Legislation

Washington, DC-  Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairman Rubén Hinojosa, released the following statement on the Congressional Budget Office's review of H.R. 15, the bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform bill that has 200 sponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Among its findings, the CBO report states that H.R. 15 would reduce the deficit by $900 billion over the next two decades.

"Today's study reinforces what the Hispanic Caucus has been saying for years: comprehensive immigration reform is good for our economy.  H.R. 15 would reduce the deficit, create jobs, and bring 11 million people out of the shadows.  What more does House Republican Leadership need to allow a vote on this legislation?

The Senate already did their part by passing S. 744, a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would also reduce the deficit by $158 billion.  The American public on both sides of the aisle support immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship.  Let's get this done!  The Congressional Hispanic Caucus demands a vote on H.R. 15 and will not stop fighting until it becomes reality."
